After leaving the house of Uncle Monty who was killed by Count Olaf, the kids were sent to live with Aunt Josephine who lived in a very weird house and had all kinds of superstitions. On the second picture we see Count Olaf with the kids after leaving Aunt Josephine for death by the leaches. He then convinces Mr. Poe of giving him custody of the children again, since they don't have anyone else to turn to. In order for Olaf to take posession of the kids fortune he would have to be married to one of them and thus mounts a play in which he would get married with Violet. The real judge plays a judge in the play thus making the union legal. The kids stop Count Olaf and they receive a package from their parents that was sent all over the world. then they are sent to other adventures.
